I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world.
— Rainer Maria Rilke
Listen
I read the poem Widening Circles over and over. It felt like a riddle to be solved. I questioned the significance of it all. What do the circles represent? Where is God in my circle? And who am I, a falcon, a storm, or a great song? The answers came in a poem I wrote titled Center of The Circle. I invite you to read both poems and ponder what they mean to you.
Widening Circles by Rainer Maria Rilke
I live my life in widening circles
that reach out across the world.
I may not complete this last one
but I give myself to it.
I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
I've been circling for thousands of years
and I still don't know: am I a falcon,
a storm, or a great song?
Center of The Circle by Megan Young
I started here in the center. I started with God, who created me. God, the primordial tower.
And…
I grow and move and live outward over and over again. Each year, another ring is added to the circle. All with God at the center. Providing a beacon, a home, a tower of strength.
And…
Who am I within those circles? The Falcon The Storm The Song
I am all three.
I am a falcon soaring high above the clouds, free and light, no worries. I am a storm filled with chaos and darkness and anxious thoughts. I am a song beautiful and rhythmic finding balance in all my endeavors.
And...
I am a part of the bigger circle of all humanity:
family friends community city state country continent world
And…
In the center of the circle is God.

So well said. God, ,expressed in the trinity created us in His likeness and surrounds us with love.
In our highs and lows he present to us, knowing our thoughts and feelings.
Well said, however, I am confused.
